Gerber Wood Products had its beginning as a sawmill founded by E.P. Gerber in 1901. The business served the local area needs. Several years later, a hardware store and inventory to serve a wider range
of construction needs were added. A planing mill was also added along with other basic woodworking machinery of the time. As E.P. Gerber's sons entered the business, expansion into a full service mill and woodworking shop were completed. In 1993, the third generation of family, with the goal of further meeting the needs of local contractors and furniture builders, added a line of wood molding equipment which grew rapidly and created a need for more manufacturing space. |
By 1997, the business had acquired a 10,000 square foot
operational woodworking facility located nearby. This
business had already been in operation for almost 50
years and was currently involved in producing wooden
advertising specialties. In a matter of months, The
Gerber family began contruction of a modern 28,000 square
foot wood molding plant adjacent to this plant. The
new facility was used to continue with
a sizable expansion of their molding and millwork line.
As business continued to increase, plans for a
finished
inventory and shipping plant were added in 2005, giving
Gerbers nearly 50,000 square feet of operating space.
Currently the company operates four molders, and a full
line of equipment to manufacture stair
parts, moldings, surfaced boards ,
and many other building materials. Due to its wholesale
distribution structure,
Gerber's customer base has expanded from the local market
to include many nationwide and even international customers.
Quality products along with honesty and integrity and
a true dedication to serve its customers has been Gerber's
greatest strength from the beginning and still continues
to drive the business today.
